Summary

Every great story has more than one chapter. For over 20 years my story has been hospitality focused, full of successful promotions, positive work environments and more than a few occasions of "learning on the job". As a hands-on Financial Controller I'm skilled in leading and motiving staff to achieve business objectives while challenging polices and procedures to optimise streamlined financial processes. For my next chapter, I am ready to put all of my life lessons, skills & passions into a new, exciting and engaging role to challenge me and provide me the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills that I have developed over the last 20 years working for Apex Hotels and laterally with Frasers Hospitality.

I would be amiss if I didn't mention the best chapter in the book of Vicky, mother to 2 wonderful children and I still manage to find the time to enjoy the gym, read mystery crime thriller books, cross stitch and dance around the kitchen cooking meals for my family.

  • Monthly preparation and reporting of the P&L Accounts for multiple properties, using SAP and Herman 1 accounting systems
  • Preparation and submission of VAT return to HMRC
  • Training, coaching and guiding two finance assistants across multiple properties.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations including accruals, prepayments and intercompany transactions

  • Following the success of my role at Apex Haymarket, I took a sidestep into finance, first FC of our Haymarket property & then onto a bigger Edinburgh site to duplicate the already successful process put in place
  • Consolidated capital management, cash flow analysis, and reconciliations statements
  • Ensure all aspects of GDPR and PCI compliance are adhered to within the financial operation of the hotel
  • Communicate with Heads of Department across various sites to manage stock levels, GP%, orders and accruals
  • Food gross profit of 72% and increasing liquor GP from 72% to 76%
  • Responsible for the daily audit and reconciliation of the hotel's revenue including cash and credit card takings
  • Ensure revenue is protected and refunds are processed within company guidelines
  • Process invoices against purchase orders via Sage 200 Extra and Procure Wizard accounting systems
  • Reconcile all month end processes, generating and providing commentary on the P&L accounts using Jedox management software
