I have developed my skills caring for patients as an adult nurse in a busy ward, delivering high quality, safe and effective care recognised through positive feedback from patients and family. I have also received Gold badge award a couple of times. I am quick to recognise deterioration in a patient's condition, taking appropriate action in a timely manner, liaising with the members of multidisciplinary teams . I value being a member of the team and strive to work independently whilst supporting colleagues and ,junior staff and students. I plan my patient's journey through admissions to the ward, maintaining clear and concise records, planning a safe discharge, liaising with multidisciplinary team and community services if required for follow up care. I am proficient in medicine management, IV administration and canulation. I perform full holistic assessments and can manage risks such pressure ulcers and wounds. I am always seeking ways to further develop myself and keep my skills up to date. I am supporting the ward manager with duties and frequently deputised in her absence. I feel I can be a good role model and I always make sure myself and my colleagues adhere to current NMC guidelines. I can ensure that the ward is safely run in respect to staffing levels and escalate to appropriate senior management. I have been fortunate to work closely with students and pre registered individuals, as a mentor, supporting them in the learning process. I have always encouraged Datix within my team, to promote honesty and openness, addressing any issues raised through it. I am transformational in my role, ensuring staff are upskilled, encouraging and assisting them to move forward with their education and nursing roles. I am involved in sickness management within the ward, offering support and sending appropriate referrals to occupational health team if necessary. All staff is encouraged to participate in audits to help understand and adhere to good practice in the clinical area. During the pandemic I have found myself supporting the planned care. This helped me gain more insight knowledge about the surgical pathways .
