I was born and raised in Germany. After 7 years I moved to the UK, I became very keen in learning English and working hard to understand my subjects and now I can speak fluent English and currently trying to achieve my goals which is to become a teacher. I am committed educating the future generation and was inspired by one of my teachers, who gave me the passion to pursue a career in education. I enjoyed my time throughout school and want to be responsible in helping children to develop their full potential. Working in education will most certainly increase my self-esteem, as it highlights the impacts of having a healthy, positive mindset which will influence my motivation and understand my full potential so I will feel inspired to take on new challenges. Likewise, in year 12 I was involved in a team business challenge where I was told to work with a team and achieve the same goal. I enjoyed taking part in the business challenge as it gave me the opportunity to develop skills that will benefit me in the world of work. I have been fortunate to have gained some work experience at a local YMCA pre-school, where I experienced some work with 3- and 4- year-old children. I was able to observe and shadow some experienced Early Years practitioners. Whilst studying Human Lifespan and development core unit in Health and social care, I was honoured to learn about how children develop from infancy to childhood. I have enjoyed reading about how children learn and what different theorist state about the role of education and play. Piaget, the theory of cognitive development and highlighting how children would start to think at a certain age, interested me. I also participated in a session where we were taught how to take on mentor session ourselves without making anyone feel judged or uncomfortable. As a mentor I had the chance to provide guidance, motivation, and emotional support, this improved my ability to communicate with various kinds of people, developing leadership and management skills. I felt like I was a role model to others, which improved my self-evaluation and self-reflection. Besides that, I have achieved and acquired many characteristics growing up as the eldest in a household with 2 younger siblings. Due to this I have acknowledged that being an eldest daughter takes up a lot of responsibility. I became an independent individual and strongly believe that I have been a supportive sister to both of my siblings, helping them with schoolwork, playing educational games like board games to improve their development and knowledge however, I helped them to take part in physical activities which they very much enjoyed. I believe that I have the knowledge of teaching this subject since I consider myself as a positive influence on others and Health and Social Care is about providing a high standard of care and support to every vulnerable service user. I will be looking forward to be studying this course and fulfilling my dedication.
I attended Mentoring where I had to train the role of a mentor: self-esteem, emotions and coping strategies communication and listening skills boundaries, confidentiality and endings
