I have worked in the mental health field for 29 yrs. I initially worked in the field of elderly care as a health care assistant. This involved providing personal care, support with ADL and promoting wellbeing. I then worked in forensic services for 10 yrs and was also seconded to do my nurse training. My first role as a qualified nurse was working in forensic inpatient services. I also went on to work in PICU. These experiences gave me skills in managing risk- preventing risk from escalating, managing patients suffering from acute mental illness and manage teams. In 2010, I worked as care coordinator within a CMHT. I later went on to working as a care coordinator for Early intervention in psychosis service. These experiences gave me skills in managing caseloads, dealing with duty calls, liaising with others health care professionals and applying for care packages. In recent years, I have mainly been working for home treatment/ crisis team. I am skilled at conducting crisis assessment/ making decisions and managing risk for vulnerable patient’s, in the community. I have worked as a deputy manager. This involved supervision of staff and organising the team/ managing the duty rota and KPIs. I have always enjoying helping people and I find the patients that I have work with inspiring.
