  • Led both Response and Neighbourhood Policing Teams ensuring prompt and effective response to reports of crime/concern, targeting, arresting and prosecuting offenders, ensuring gathering, retaining and recording of all relevant information, in line with the CPIA 1996 and PACE 1984.
  • Encouraged early liaison with supervisors, the Crown Prosecution Service and attendance at Case Conferences to ensure all reasonable investigative actions were completed and disclosure issues addressed.
  • Built close working relationships with a variety of partners and promoted joint working to address issues.
  • Instigated and chaired multi-agency Placed Based Integration Meetings to address emerging issues causing harm, also addressing repeat demand.

  • Spent ten years as a Detective Sergeant/Inspector in Public Protection Investigation Units, with responsibility for high-risk domestic abuse, child protection and vulnerable adult investigations, reviewing these to ensure all reasonable lines of enquiry were followed, in line with PACE 1984 and CPIA 1996.
  • Attended Special Procedure deaths and prepared reports for the Coroner.
  • Collaborated with partners on a daily basis, also chairing high-risk domestic abuse Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), to create action plans, to address safety of high-risk domestic abuse victims and their children and manage linked offenders.
  • Delivered enhanced domestic abuse risk assessment training to all front-line officers in GMP, enabling them to more accurately and respond to dynamic risk and take immediate action to safeguard victims.
  • Attended multi-agency Serious Case, Domestic Homicide and Safeguarding Adult Reviews to identify and address learning, often requiring detailed reports to be prepared promptly with very tight timescales. My attention to detail and prompt reports drew praise from senior officers.
