I qualified as a clinician over a decade ago and have experience in various aspects of medicine. I am a General Practitioner with the passion to deliver excellent health service and also learn through the process. I am invested in clinical governance and always sort for ways to improve the system and make it work for the patients. I have sound leadership skill as clearly evidenced in my various roles and also bring variety to my work as a General Practitioner based on my previous work experiences including medical education. I am knowledgeable, compassionate, respectful and dedicated to work; I work very well in teams and will bring a lot of experience.
My clinics consists of 4 surgery sessions per week and see a good mix of acute, chronic and complex cases. I work as palliative GP to some of our patients. I have a good volume of admin work which includes processing of bloods, letters and medicines management. I debrief the GP registrars, Physician Associates & Advanced Care Practitioners. I am undertaking training to become a GP trainer and also do some extra work in the practice and other primary care establishment . This affords me a wider coverage of cases with greater opportunities for learning.
I work as a Sessional GP for Doncaster OOH and have managed quite a good mix of both urgent and non-urgent cases with good outcomes. I work flexible hours ranging from day shifts, twilight and night coverage. I also do triaging of patients to the appropriate providers for review.
This was the 2nd half of my 2nd year in training and I rotated through the Trauma & Orthopaedics department of Doncaster Royal infirmary for 6 months. I attended clinics to learn common orthopedic presentations in primary care, was on the bleep for new referrals into the department and looked after patients on the wards. I did knee aspirations and joint injections. I was a valuable member of the team especially with my Plastic surgery background.
This was my 2nd year in training and had 6 months rotation in the community. I did my medical education innovative training programme during this rotation. I ran clinics twice weekly and spent the rest of the week at Sheffield University, engaging in teaching and training activities. These included: - Audit marking - Ethics review - Trainings on handling small and large group discussions I was also involved in teaching early-year medical students and served as an examiner. This experience allowed me to develop skills in medical education, leadership, and assessment and I was awarded an honorary lecturer at the University of Sheffield. I also used this period to do my compulsory Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) which is a pre-requisite for CCT and passed with flying colours.
This was my 2nd 6 months rotation through the Accident & Emergency department of Doncaster Royal Infirmary. During this rotation, I effectively managed a high volume of emergency cases, significantly enhancing my triaging skills. This experience proved invaluable in primary care, where accurate and efficient triage is important for timely interventions and optimal patient outcomes. I worked in both Major and Minor aspects of the ED with good feedback from seniors and did a lot of locum shifts afterwards.
This was the commencement of my training to be a General Practitioner (Family Physician). This was in a practice in the community.
It was my first 6 months rotation and I ran daily surgeries ranging from urgent and non-urgent cases. I also used the period to consolidate on my knowledge gaps which showed through my consultations
I had very good feedback from my trainer, staff and patients at the practice. This actually set the tone for my career.
I am an honorary lecturer in the University of Sheffield as part of my MedEd innovative training programme and I was involved with teaching medical students, peer group reviews, ethics and audit marking and quality improvement projects. I am very dedicated and punctual to work and will bring value to your organization.
