• I undertook the following tasks: Reception duties which involved opening mail, providing a sound customer service by greeting patients, dealing with their personal records in a timely manner which assisted the reception staff to achieve their goals and filing.
• I listened to private patient and GP consultations where I was opened to learn about a number of personal problems which enabled me to understand the vast ray of medical issues and how this may be treated.
• I gained first hand experience on how to make referrals due to more complex problems which needed specialist attention.
• I was able to ask questions and observe minor surgery operations such as cyst or mole removals. During my observation I engaged on how important it was to ensure all the correct information was given to the GP so that he can make the correct analysis before the procedure.
• I learnt the importance of surgical hygiene. I learnt how to ensure the patient is kept calm and is aware of any medication prescribed. I also learnt about how to manage my time appropriately at there is a 10 minute window frame to assess each patient.
