I am an enthusiastic, motivated, and dedicated Physical Education Teacher with extensive experience and a proven track record of success. Since graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Sports Coaching and earning my PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Bishop Grosseteste University, I have been teaching full-time for four years. During this time, I have progressed from teacher to Sports Ambassador, to Second in Department, and now proudly serve as Head of Physical Education.
My journey in education has been marked by a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring students to achieve their full potential. I have consistently demonstrated the ability to lead and innovate, overseeing the development and implementation of initiatives that have enhanced the PE curriculum and student engagement across year groups. My leadership roles have allowed me to mentor colleagues, drive departmental success, and contribute to the wider school community.
Before beginning my teaching career, I gained valuable experience as a sports coach both in the UK and abroad. These opportunities provided me with a global perspective on sports education and an appreciation for the diverse needs of students. My training and professional development across various teaching environments have equipped me with a versatile skill set, enabling me to adapt my teaching to meet the individual needs of all students. I take pride in instilling key values such as teamwork, resilience, and a sense of pride in every student under my supervision.
As Head of PE, I understand the significance of a high-quality PE provision and its impact on the overall development and well-being of students. I am committed to fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within my department. My experiences and leadership qualities make me a valuable asset to any educational institution, and I look forward to contributing further to the success of students and colleagues alike.
I have a great passion for community involvement through sport; I have played competitive football for many years and helped to coach youth teams. I am FA Level 1 qualified, FA Emergency First Aid Qualified, and FA Safeguarding Children Qualified; I plan to continue my development by gaining more coaching badges and stay involved in community sport wherever I go. I watch a lot of sport in my spare time; I am currently a season ticket holder at my local football club and enjoy the time spent with friends, colleagues, and family at these matches. In my previous schools and employment I have helped to organise competitive sport between staff to encourage a team mentality, good cohesion, and an overall happy workplace. It can be good to take yourself away from the stress that can come from work and enjoy each other’s company in a new setting. Fitness for life is extremely important to me; I regularly participate in fitness classes and go to the gym to keep myself at a high performance level. I hope to bring this into an extracurricular setting and encourage fitness for life with pupils. I also take part in squash, rock climbing, and running in my spare time to add to my involvement in fitness. I have been extremely fortunate to travel and work in some incredible countries around the world; China, USA, South Africa, Vietnam, Italy, and many more. Experiencing new cultures and immersing me into the way of life in different countries has been incredibly rewarding and I hope to continue to do this throughout my life. If possible I would highly encourage school trips abroad to give these incredible experiences to pupils.
