Summary

As a recovering alcoholic and drug addict (4 years clean), I bring lived experience of substance misuse, involvement in the criminal justice system and periods of homelessness too. I have made significant efforts to transform my life, including pursuing college education(ongoing) and seeking out private lessons to strengthen my academic skills and earn qualifications that support my employment goals. I am enthusiastic to develop these skills and knowledge further, as well as undertake training.

Through my various volunteering roles, I have worked alone and collaboratively on community projects that support those in need, with the aim of giving back some of the help and encouragement I once received. I really enjoy supporting others. I am confident, outgoing, and sociable - qualities that help me connect with people on a personal and individual level and approach others with compassion and empathy. My own experiences and recovery journey have given me insight into effective strategies and treatment services, as well as problem-solving approaches and flexibility of thought. I’m also familiar with a range of support organisations and am able to handle challenges calmly, patiently, and without judgment.
