A driven and motivated Apprentice Quantity Surveyor with just under two years experience in contractual management and cost control. I have been involved in various projects where I have assisted the QS to help them with formatting and submitting variations to the client, ensuring projects stay within the financial guidelines, liaising with clients and processing subcontract orders. I have good communication skills which I have developed through the collaboration with project managers, clients and other contractors. I am committed to my professional growth and have a keen interest in advancing within the industry with the aim to become qualified and continue to contribute to successful projects.
Since I have been working at Midwest I have gained valuable skills and have been exposed to different aspects of Quantity Surveying. I have worked on various projects and have gained experiences from shadowing the QS's on the projects and my Commercial Manager.
I understand how payment works and the importance of cashflow for a business, I have been responsible for populating and sending Applications on time and to invoice them when needed. Alongside this I have worked on contract administration tasks that enable projects to stay on track.
Whilst spending time on some of my projects, I shadowed the QS and Contracts Manager. In this time I spent supporting the project team, I helped to manage subcontractors terms, variations and applications that were needed to ensure the project was ran properly and the finances of the project remained stable.
I utilised a system called vixen for cost analysis, maintaining project information, raising projects and invoicing, which was a very useful tool for me as it enabled me to constantly access project information. Similarly to this I also used a system called payapps which enables the process of managing construction payment claims and approvals. It allows contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to submit, review, and certify payment applications efficiently.
