Skills

Team work

  • For the last three years I have played for the Lincoln Bishop Mens First Football team as well as basketball teams and badminton, which has helped me to develop as a person and help others within these teams develop too

Time management

  • In all of the jobs I have had it has been a requirement to practice good time management, in which I always meeting the quota that was provided for me

Leadership

  • During my time at Lincoln Bishop University I have learnt leadership skills in multiple ways, as the vice president of the basketball society I learnt how to run and build a team as well as being a supervisor on a variety of levels on an archaeological dig for 6 weeks

Communication

  • While working at the Lindum Sports Association, I was a customer facing bartender - this helped with both customer and colleague communicational skills

Outgoing

  • I have always loved the outdoors including hiking and camping, both of which I have performed at their highest level having received my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and my Gold Chief Scout Award

Driving

  • For the past few years I have held a full UK drivers licence, during this time I have kept my record completely clean while driving my own car too and from work

Hobbies and interests

  • I enjoy playing, doing and watching a wide variety of Sports including football, basketball, badminton, downhill and enduro mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, bouldering, running, swimming surfing and mauy thai
  • Alongside all of the sports I do, I also enjoy camping or anything outdoors and will leap at any chance to be out in nature in spite of the elements
  • I also enjoy playing, collecting and painting warhammer 40k figures as well as playing videogames with my friends and reading the occasional book
  • I have also always had a deep interest in history and archaeology ever since I was young, my grandad would go out into his garden and bury coins and other artifacts for me and my brothers to find and "excavate" which only fuelled my interest further
  • Growing up, my parents took me to many archaeological wonders across both England and Europe, with a few personal favourites being Fort St Elmo in Malta and Bouillon Castle in France which both link to my favourite part of history, the crusades

Archaeological Experience

Field Archaeologist Trainee

Lincoln Bishop University | Lincoln, Lincolnshire 

 

  • Due to my History and Archaeological course at Lincoln Bishop University I performed four weeks of field school training as part of one of my modules at the end of my first year of study
  • In my second year I returned to the field voluntarily and spent the first two as a regular field team member and the last two as a supervisor of all the teams working on the multiple burials we had on site
  • In my final year of my course I once again returned but this time as a fully fledged trench supervisor, running my own trench and assessing the first years undertaking the same module that I had in my first year
  • Altogether I have performed 12 weeks of archaeological field work as well as three weeks of site closure
  • During my time on site I have learnt many archaeological skills including excavation using a multitude of tools, survey methods including resistivity, how to respectfully and properly perform an osteological lift, filling and filing of context sheets, archaeological drawing and recording, and finds processing, amongst other things
