Handyman/Stagehand/Barman (Temporary)

Tim Ford
Leamington Spa
08.2015 - 08.2015
  • Responsibilities
  • Handyman: Heavy lifting, fixing things, building, painting, general assistance, cleaning event site
  • Stagehand: Relaying messages, reassuring musicians, handling expensive equipment.
  • Barman: Pouring drinks, cleaning bar, customer service
  • Accomplishments
  • This event was put on for a Leamington based company who set up their own festival to celebrate a recent achievement in the business.
  • My biggest impact came in the form of when I was working as a stagehand. The first difficulty came when we got informed that some bands had been caught in traffic, this meant the event had to be delayed which threw off all the planned times for the bands to be on stage. Then I figured out the planned times for the kit changes in between bands was far too short. I proposed the idea to just have the 'breakables' (parts of the drums that get damaged over time) on the drums changed rather than a full kit. This saved time which was vitally important as we needed to beat a curfew.
  • Skills Used
  • Problem solving, communication, listening, teamwork, leadership, work ethic, flexibility

Steward (Temporary)

Children of Gaza (charity event)
Coventry
11.2014 - 11.2014
  • It was a fairly small event so my responsibilities where to help attendees to their seats, give them programs, answer questions about the event and collect donations. I really enjoyed helping out for a great cause that I believe in and it gave me a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that I had done some good in the world. As well as helping me develop my people skills even further.
