I decided to enter the working world by joining Rogo Scott, a small media consultancy company which provided strategic consultancy services to the media and entertainment industry. During my time at Rogo Scott we worked on projects with companies such as Disney, Peloton, Viacom and several other UK content owners and we also had a growing number of clients in the US. We also had a well established network of software vendors across our areas of expertise. Peloton then brought Rogo Scott and as a result of this a lot of the staff, including myself joined Peloton as new permanent employees, forming a new team which was called the Content Business Solutions Team. After 2 and a half years at Peloton I learned that as a result of a restructuring of the company my position had been made redundant so now I'm looking for another role.
I worked alongside telephone engineers during the pre-build weeks and go live weeks of phone systems in various different hotels. I had to learn how to interact in a professional manner with both staff and with the hotel guests. I also learned how to solve problems that occurred during the week so I developed my problem solving skills whilst on the job. I’ve also been working with different engineers every week so I have been able to work effectively with many different people which I believe is a very useful skill to have when entering the workplace.
I undertook two weeks’ work experience in the sales division during the summer of 2013. I attended several client meetings, gaining a sense of what the sales environment is like. I also did a lot of work entering data into a customer relationship management system called salesforce. Finally, I also experienced what the roles of marketing, investment and dealing teams entailed, on a day to day basis.
