As a former Kitchen and Bathroom Designer and project manager, although I have enjoyed this career I am now seeking a change to a more hands-on and operational role, working within a team to actively be involved rather than solely design-based work, where I can apply my transferable skills to a new environment.
I began my career at John Longley Kitchens & Bathrooms; specialising in the design and project management of bespoke kitchens and bathrooms featuring premium German brands, including Siematic and Nobilia. My role combined customer service, sales, design, and project management, guiding clients through every stage of their renovation journey from the initial consultation to project completion. I began as an employee however in 2014 myself and a colleague bought the company following John Longley's retirement and have run the business ever since.
Responsibilities:
· Welcoming customers and acting as their first point of contact.
· Developed strong client relationships by discussing requirements, lifestyle, design preferences and budgets.
· Conducting home visits to carry out accurate site measurements.
· Designing bespoke kitchens and bathrooms using Compusoft Winner, producing realistic 3D visualisations to show the realistic view of the design - maximising space, functionality and storage.
· Presenting the design and quotations to clients, making adjustments where required.
· Coordinated projects from sale through to completion, liaising with installers, suppliers, builders, architects and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
· Placing and managing orders, monitoring delivery schedules and ensuring timescales were met.
· Receiving and checking stock deliveries for accuracy.
· Preparing detailed client specification packs for installation teams.
· Resolving any issues relating to orders, deliveries or installations promptly, keeping clients informed throughout.
· Managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring the day-to-day operation of the business remained efficient.
· Maintaining regular communication with clients before, during and after installation, providing ongoing support and building lasting professional relationships.

This role has enabled me to gain transferable skills such as customer relationship management, sales, project coordination, problem solving, organisation and attention to detail. The quality of service provided has contributed to repeat business and customer referrals, with 95% of new clients being acquired through recommendations.
Gibbs Catering Ltd was a newly established company. I was responsible for launching and promoting a new product within the catering and hospitality industry. Working independently, I developed the customer base from the ground up, successfully establishing relationships with over 120 wholesalers across the UK who went on to distribute our product.

I worked as a self-employed sales representative within the highly competitive home improvement industry, generating new business and building relationships with prospective customers.

I completed a full apprenticeship to become a qualified Diesel Fitter, I gained extensive experience in the maintenance, overhaul, testing and repair of diesel locomotives and railway rolling stock.
Responsibilities included:
· Fitting, assembling and testing diesel locomotive power plants, power units and ancillary equipment.,
· Carrying out general bench fitting and assembly work on diesel multiple units and associated components
· Dismantling, overhauling, rebuilding, fault finding and testing freight rolling stock to ensure it met operational and safety standards.
· Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
· Working to strict engineering, quality and health and safety standards within a busy workshop environment.
· Collaborating effectively as part of a skilled engineering team to meet production and maintenance targets.
