Initially managing the operations in the Cambridgeshire area for Doocey Civil Engineering, who have the Cambridge Water contract. Overseeing the logistics and operations of 12 teams in planned and reactive maintenance to all the water systems in the area.
Requires driving continuous improvement and optimisation of all processes, with responsibility for on site H&S for all personnel and contract workers.
Manage all depot plant and vehicle complaince on a daily and weekly basis. Ensuring that policies and procedures are followed. Developing processes to maximise stewardship, safety, quality and productivity at the depot. Supervision of the shipping, receiving and recording of materials in.

Production Manager

Zeiss moved out the area where I was living, I did manage the production in the manufacture of high end scanning electron microscopes, using lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement applications. Responsible for a £120million turn-over p.a. in the production of 40+ machines per month.
Managing the demands for the on time delivery of the customer's bespoke orders, facilitating all production needs using a SAP system. Working closely with the design/development teams for both hardware and software upgrades and the release of new product improvement initiatives. Overseeing the manufacturing engineers, assembly technicians and the final test engineers to ensure good quality products are achieved.
Recruiting and interviewing prospective assembly and electronic test engineers, currently responsible for a team of 25.
Ensuring all staff adhere to company policy regarding health and safety (IOSH certificated), time keeping and sickness records; training initiatives, plus instilling the discipline required to maintain a safe, clean, tidy efficient, working environment.

Senior Production Process Engineer

Responsible for project management and the introduction of production automation tooling for the manufacture of fibre optical switching assemblies. Requires working closely with the vendor and R&D team, to achieve the necessary process capabilities required for quality products and in turn carrying out validation and acceptance trials FAT, SAT and PAT, including service,repair and maintenance of equipment. Engineering techniques used are high precision mechanical stage movements, arm/gripper movements, vision control systems, pick/placement of components, laser soldering, laser welding and laser ablation applications. Providing operator/technician training, detailed work instructions, introduction of SPC for production control techniques and of maintenance schedules to achieve optimum equipment performance and quality parts.

Skills

    Having spent almost 40 years in industry and managed many staff, I have great experience in understanding individual needs, gaining their confidence and working alongside them so they can achieve their best results whilst creating a friendly happy working environment I find I am a natural people's person and can quickly gain people's trust and respect

    As well as being able to achieve seniority tasks and demands by higher management through clarity, honesty, good communications to deliver above and beyond expectations

    I have always maintained a strong physical active life, I have built my own gymnasium, play competitive league squash and play football I am currently considering undertaking a Level 3 in personal training

    With also having quite a highly skilled technical background including a lot of administration activities

    I am now in a fortunate position in life whereby a part time post is ideal for me, particularly in fitness and wellbeing which is a passion I have always had
