I am an enthusiastic and self motivated young man with experience beyond my years. I am confident in dealing with people of all ages, and in responding calmly and efficiently in high pressure and stressful situations.
I believe this is because I joined the Fire Cadets division of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service aged 11 and was a keen and active member attending weekly in Saltash until my ‘retirement’ last year aged 18. During this time, as well as learning fire safety and firefighter skills, I also learned to work effectively as part of a team, and developed effective communication skills. As I became a more senior member, I learned and used leadership skills, coaching and mentoring the younger members of cadets.
Since leaving school, I have taken on a range of seasonal and fixed term job opportunities and voluntary roles within my community which both use existing skills and have enabled me to develop new skills. I like working in active environments where there are daily challenges and I enjoy problem solving and helping people.
My strong work ethic has been recognised my several of my employers who have gone on to sponsor me for relevant qualifications or given me additional responsibilities to expand my experience and skill set.
