Aspiring law student starting at Northumbria University in September, with a clear goal of pursuing a career as a lawyer. Committed to developing strong analytical and communication skills, while demonstrating a reliable work ethic alongside dedication to continuous learning.
Here, I continued working as an Optical Assistant, building on the skills I’d developed previously. I became much more confident with dispensing, regularly advising customers on lens options and helping them choose the best solutions for their needs. I also carried out contact lens teaches, guiding new wearers through the process of insertion, removal, and care. In addition, I helped sign customers up to the Specsavers contact lens scheme, ensuring they understood the benefits and how the service worked. This role really deepened my experience and allowed me to take on more responsibility in a clinical retail setting.
During my time at Specsavers as an Optical Assistant, I worked closely with customers and optometrists to support the smooth running of the store. I was responsible for pre-screening patients before their eye tests, helping ensure everything was ready for the optometrists. I also assisted with dispensing when needed and regularly fitted glasses, making sure each pair was adjusted comfortably and correctly. The role gave me great experience in both the technical and customer service sides of optical care, and really helped me build confidence in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
