This was not a paid position. I completed a two-week work experience placement at a mechanics garage, where I gained valuable insight into the automotive industry. During my placement, I observed and assisted with a range of tasks, including vehicle servicing, tyre changes, oil checks, and basic repairs. I learned how mechanics diagnose faults using specialist tools and equipment while following important health and safety procedures. This experience helped me develop practical skills, improve my teamwork and communication abilities, and gain a better understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a mechanic. Overall, the placement increased my confidence and strengthened my interest in working within the automotive sector.
