I have a small amount of experience when it comes to jobs. However I have gathered many skills from working as a gardener for my parents friends business. This job taught me how to use key skills like communication, teamwork and problem solving. These skills are relevant in any job space, for example using communication is an important skill as it helps clearly understand customers and co workers. Teamwork is important as in work spaces you need to be able to work well with the people around you, people have different strengths so teamwork allows for better organisation, and problem solving.
From my experience doing volunteering for football clubs and helping out with a small business I believe I have improved these skills drastically. Having these skills has helped me put smiles on the faces of people I've worked with and the customers. In school I also volunteer on school opening days, during this I help set up and organise as well as being welcoming for visitors. I also enjoy playing football which has helped me work on my discipline and reinforced my teamwork, sport has helped me become dedicated, it has taught me commitment as I have to show up to training sessions and matches. I've noticed that this has transferred over into my general life when it comes to school work and meeting deadlines and being at meetings. I look forward to putting my skills to use in a different environment.
I have been doing this job part time mostly during the summer but also during the later months. My experience as a gardener has taught me to be helpful and kind to customers, asking questions to understand what they want and how I can help. This job also helped with time management and being able to complete jobs efficiently.
