As the Mould Room Manager in Radiotherapy Physics at the Birmingham cancer Centre my role involved running the Mould Room on a daily basis whilst acting as line manager for up to 8 staff members of varying grades and experience.
The Mould Room is involved in the manufacture and provision of bespoke devices to assist in delivering Radiotherapy accurately on a daily basis for anything up to 35 daily treatments.
This was a temporary position during the busy Christmas period working weekends and 2 or 3 evenings per week.I was offered the opportunity to become permanent weekend staff member which I gladly accepted and stayed for a further 12 months. During November and December I was awarded the employee of the month.
As a Trainee Medical Technical Officer this role was both academic which involved college attendance whilst also working full time gaining practical skills and experience that would be used as a qualified Medical Technical Officer.
