  • I am currently working as the assistant manager of the engineering department with my direct report being the European regional director of engineering
  • I am responsible for some 200 rooms, all of the back of house areas and function rooms with in this 5* hotel.
  • I take care of day to day tasks of the department and I direct a team of 8 day staff and 8 shift engineers which are made up of room techs, building techs, painters, electricians plumbers and 2 supervisors, my job encompasses all of the water treatment & hygiene, creating and ensuring all ppm schedules are up to date and added to where necessary, ensuring all plant is kept in optimal condition all the while attending to various guest requests, to assist in this I use the HOTSOS system and BEMS that has been implemented by the hotel
  • I am very pro active and can always be seen around the hotel assisting my team where needed, I am also responsible for over seeing and booking our approved contractors for the hotel as well as sourcing new contractors where required.
  • I head up for my department the PWT food and hygiene audit programme which consists of weekly meetings with hod's and directors to construct and carry out a clear progression line for all food and hygiene with in the kitchens of the hotel, I am also a key member from engineering who takes part in the ESG group, which is made up of hod's and directors and we have a weekly meeting to discuss opportunities and ideas on how to improve our own environmental sustainability and governance with in the hotel.
  • Due to ongoing refurbishment works I have been the face of engineering for all meetings that take place in the hotel, with the exception of only pc meetings.
  • I have challenged existing processes to initiate meaningful change, securing long-term benefits to productivity.
  • Evaluated performance of teams and individuals, offering detailed feedback to drive improvement.
  • Managed planning and execution of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to minimise production disruption and machine downtime.
  • Granted holiday requests and scheduled shifts strategically in line with operational needs.
  • Supported and implemented automation in strategic areas, helping to cut long-term costs and increase site efficiency.
  • And with all of the above I have become an established and highly valued part of the engineering team, visibly helping to increase not just the performance of the team and hotel but also the morale of the staff who work with me.
