Dounreay
1996.01 - 1997.01
I successfully completed a comprehensive one-year administration training program at The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Dounreay. UKAEA was a nuclear research establishment located in Dounreay, Caithness. It was established in the 1950s and served as one of the primary facilities in developing and testing of nuclear technologies in the United Kingdom. The sites focus was on experimental fast breeder reactors, which aimed to produce more nuclear fuel than they consumed. As part of my training program, I accomplished an SVQ and National Certification qualification through Thurso College.
During my training, I actively immersed myself in diverse administrative functions, gaining hands on experience in various departments. Notably I contributed to HR/Personal operations, efficiently handing administration tasks to support the team, and learning the HRIS computer-based system. Additionally, I participated in the Fuel Cycle Area Administration, where I assisted in managing crucial documentation and data related to the fuel cycle operations.
Furthermore, I was entrusted with responsibilities in the Operational Document Control, where I organised and maintained vital records. My time as a Trainee Administrator at UKAEA Dounreay provided me with invaluable exposure to different administrative areas on the site, nurturing my skills and preparing me for future challenges in the field.
