Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing open-heart surgeries, valve replacements, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and other cardiac procedures.
• Participate in preoperative patient assessments and consultations, including reviewing patient history, diagnostic reports, and surgical planning.
• Provide post-operative care in both ICU and ward settings, including wound care, monitoring vital signs, and managing complications.
• Attend surgical rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation of procedures, progress notes, and patient outcomes.
• Stay updated on latest techniques and best practices in cardiac surgery.
• Educate and support patients and their families about surgical procedures, risks, recovery processes, and lifestyle modifications.
• Participate in on-call duties as scheduled.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, anaesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for integrated care delivery.

I have undergone rigorous and comprehensive training for over six years at Narayana Hrudayalaya , one of the busiest and most advanced cardiothoracic centres in the world. During this period, I have been deeply involved in a wide range of adult and paediatric cardiothoracic surgical procedures, working closely with esteemed consultants and surgical teams.

• First Assistant in Surgery:
  I have first-assisted in over 500 complex cardiothoracic surgeries, including both adult and paediatric cardiac and thoracic procedures. I am highly efficient in pre-operative surgical preparation and case setup, ensuring everything is ready for the consultant.
• Procedural Expertise:
• Performed 300+ central venous cannulations independently.
• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machines machines.
• Efficiently assisted in initiating and managing patients on ECMO .
• Independently harvested conduits (radial artery, saphenous vein) for CABG surgery.
• Performed ASD and VSD closures independently.
• Confident in performing minor surgical procedures such as:
• Chest tube insertion
• Intubation
• CVP line insertion
• Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) insertion
• Arterial line insertion
• Patient Management:
• Competent in managing patients across all stages of care pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative in ITU, high-dependency units, wards, and outpatient clinics.
• Actively involved in night on-call emergency duties , including managing acute surgical and medical situations.

This hands-on, high-volume exposure has not only strengthened my clinical and surgical skills but also reinforced my ability to work under pressure, think critically, and function as a reliable team player in multidisciplinary environments.
