I worked as an Emergency Medical Officer(SHO) for 12 months, managing acute medical and trauma cases in a high-pressure setting. Provided initial assessment, stabilisation, and referrals for critically ill patients. Collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and effective care. Gained hands-on experience in emergency procedures, rapid decision-making, and patient communication. I also plan to give MRCEM by end of this year to pursue my passion for Emergency Medicine.

Description of change
Audit on Proper Disposal of Used Syringes in the Medical Ward
Date
01/10/2023
Aim & measure of the change
To assess compliance with standard protocols for safe disposal of used syringes in the medical ward.
Conclusions/Actions
Audit assessed compliance with syringe disposal protocols in medical ward by comparing syringes issued vs. those disposed in sharps bins. Many syringes were found improperly disposed of or unaccounted for.
Staff education and access to sharps containers improved percentage of disposed syringes that was seen in re-audit 4 weeks later.
