During my time as a Teaching Assistant, I have always worked with 3-6 year olds. I would says that my best skills within this role have always been in a nurture based approach. I have a calm manor with all the children, especially those with additional or behavioural needs. I am use a compassionate, positive and consistent approach in order to provide children with processing time, and time to regulate their emotions. I feel that as the children's role models, it is important to show how to handle emotion, not only to help themselves, but to encourage compassion towards others . I have excellent relationships with my colleagues and have a positive approach to teamwork. I have often had to deal with many challenges with parents and I understand the worry it can cause when someone has the care of your child.
