I have recently taken early retirement with a view to working part time in order to support my pension and be an active member of the community . I am looking to work around 12-16 hours a week . I am happy to work some weekends if they are on a rotational basis. I'm open to doing anything. I am computer competent and although 55 still have a very young outlook on life. I am still physically fit and able.
I worked for 19 years as a technician within the Design Technology Department. I worked with students aged 11-16. My day to day duties involved :
Preparing resources for lessons including Textiles , Woodwork and Construction.
Ordering and managing stock levels of all resources within the department.
Working alongside teachers to assist with students in the classroom.
Maintaining and arranging yearly servicing and testing of all equipment and machinery within the department.
I also ran the schools Duke of Edinburgh award for 10 years.
I took early retirement to pursue more local part time employment.
I worked in the London clearing house processing cheques through the clearing system. I left due to the office being relocated .
I worked on the counter at two different branches in London. My job involved serving customers to deposit and withdraw cash from their accounts. Paying in and cashing cheques. Dealing with all general banking enquiries . Reconciling the till at the end of the day.
I moved on to Abbey National in order to fit in with child care.
Throughout my working life I have always been successful in whatever role I have taken on I'm a quick learner and have always been able to work on my own initiative I am happy to turn my hand to anything and am happy to be part of a team
I am used to dealing with customers both face to face and over the phone I have experience with handling cash and balancing accounts
My time working in school certainly taught me to be proactive instead of reactive
Lastly , working with teenagers has taught me patience and the ability to stay calm in high stress situations
I received a Jack Petchey award in 2009 for my services to the Duke Of Edinburgh Award. I also attended a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in 2016 to acknowledge my service to the award.
