As a host my main duties consisted of:

  • Undergoing ride specific training to fully understand COSWAP procedures when hosting that ride.
  • Working in a very close team to ensure the running of the ride were done safely and efficiently.

  • Checked ride restraints to ensure guests were safely secured at all times.
  • Dealt with many major security incidents, medical emergencies and difficult scenarios calmly and professionally.
  • Used health and safety equipment to climb 100+ ft up rollercoasters when necessary.

As a operator my main duties consisted of:

  • Undergoing intense specific ride training to ensure all COSWAP procedures were being followed when operating the ride.
  • Carrying out opening checks on my allocated ride, this included doing a daily queue line walk to check nothing was broken and was clean, checking all equipment needed for the day was present, check all important things such as CCTV, radios and weather monitors were working, sending test trains without staff then with staff on.
  • Being a leader to my ride team for the day. Different rides had a different amount of hosts to be accountable for, this varies from 1-10 hosts per ride. Host management was vital to keep to ride running efficiently
  • Being the main point of contact for the ride. If any emergencies occurred you would be in charge.
  • Operating complex machinery safely and ensuring daily targets are met.
  • Lead close down checks at end of each day. This consisted of instructing hosts to carry out all cleaning duties and to lower all the ride restraints, turning parts of the ride off, complete daily paperwork and locking up.
