SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

ELLIOTT GROUP
Chester, UK
2023.03 - 2023.12
  • Appointed by Elliott Group as the project lead to deliver a £46-million retirement village on the outskirts of Chester, North Wales. The project consisted of 6 individual buildings, ranging from 3 to 4 storeys in height, providing a total overall number of 155 units, with social amenities such as restaurants, retail and leisure facilities. In the 8-month period, the project achieved an output turnover in the region of 12.4 million in the period. The project type - JCT D&B 16th Edition.
  • The structures initially consisted of a traditional brick & block, masonry construction, with timber trusses, slate roofs with Nordan, composite window types, with large areas of curtain walling to the ground floor areas. Not excluding rainscreen cladding to featured areas on the facade.
  • During the VE process, it was recognised that there was a shortage in the area of key trades, such as Bricklayers. This led us to look at other types of building options. Through strategic planning in terms of design, cost and programme with the client’s involvement, we were able to replace the inner block, masonry wall with precast. This proved to add many benefits to the build programme. However, ultimately, this did put a lot of strain on the design resource available to us, which proved to be a very challenging period in the project.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

GOLDBECK INTERNATIONAL
2022.03 - 2023.03
  • I joined Goldbeck in March 2022 to support the Northwest region in establishing and growing the business in the area. Projects included a 16m, 11-storey car park in Sunderland. Client, Sir Robert Mc Alpine / Sunderland City Council. The project was completed in March 2023. The project has since been awarded the best build in the car park sector for 2023.
  • As mentioned above, I was employed by Goldbeck to assist and support the newly appointed Regional Director in growing the business in the North. Unfortunately, this is not how things turned out. After initially going up to Sunderland to deliver what was a challenging project for the business. The business then requested that I go down to London to deliver a car park at Gatwick Airport. This would have initiated me having to work away from home for a further 18 months, which wasn’t something I was willing to do at the time due to some health issues my partner was going through at the time, which I needed to be closer to home to provide the support that was needed.
  • Goldbeck specializes in the design and construction of car parks and super sheds, with key clients such as Amazon.
