Music Programmer for Absolute Radio. This means scheduling the station's music daily, along with specialist shows such as Rock 'n' Roll Football, and Sunday Night Music Club. Providing a different musical experience for very different audiences by curating the music, ensuring a perfect blend of hits, classics, and new music for very different audiences. Working as part of a team on the station has resulted in growth in both listening figures and the Absolute brand.
Producer of The Skin Show for Absolute Radio. This involves putting together a weekly show plan, depending on pace, genre, and era of song, to produce an interesting, eclectic, and enjoyable two-hour specialist show. Now in its eighth series, the show has been nominated for a Music Week Music Show of the Year award.
Head of Absolute Radio 90s. This involves scheduling the music for the station, understanding the audience, and finding the right musical balance, and tone each day. I produce this station while working, managing, and liaising with presenters to ensure the output fits the station through guests, musical themes, and general content.
Head of Absolute Radio 20s, the network's new music station. The scheduling of this station is important in bringing new music and artists to the Absolute network. This involves liaising with labels and pluggers, sourcing artists/tracks that I think will work for the station and audience, and including them in the weekly playlist meeting for discussion.
During my work on this station and Absolute Radio, we have seen definite growth in our audience, reaching new records in RAJAR results.
Head of Music, Executive Producer and Head of Content
Amazing Radio
Newcastle Upon Tyne
11.2010 - 05.2019
Originally hired as a producer, my duties included organising content for the show via guests, lively features, and suitable talking points to engage with our target audience, all whilst managing the presenter on a daily basis.
As I developed, I also took on the role of Head of Music for Amazing Radio. An important aspect of this was liaising with record companies on artist promotion, and building relationships to benefit the station. Having a positive and mutually beneficial relationship ensured that Amazing was the first port of call for everything in new, independent music.
Following the departure of our Head of Content, I was promoted to Editor and Head of Content at amazingradio.com. Commissioning contributors at a partnership level: takeovers for both online and on air. This included numerous festivals such as Slottsfjell and The Great Escape, where we were lucky enough to broadcast live from, do sessions at, curate stages, and more.
