Offshore Inspection Engineer

Marathon/RockRose East Brae and Brae Alpha
Offshore, Aberdeen
07.2017 - 09.2020
  • Commencing July 2017 I was installed as the OIE on East Brae initially in a probationary allocation. These duties have included plan management and the completion of work scopes within pre-determined time frames. Leading a team of inspectors in a supervisory role managing all aspects of day to day compliance from work load and efficiency to safety awareness and adherence.
  • Upon successful completion of the probationary OIE program the full time commencement as core platform OIE began in January 2018. As I have become more experienced in the position of OIE my interpersonal and team management skills have progressed resulting in excellent team led progress and productivity on the East Brae. This has culminated in the successful delivery of multiple key performance indicators.
  • CUI and FM team leader responsible for accurately planning and surveying all pipelines scheduled for corrosion under insulation inspection and any remedial fabric maintenance work.
  • Involved managing a multi-disciplined team of inspectors, painters and insulators.
  • An excellent communicator with high level of stake holder management skills working with all relevant technical authorities and onshore engineers. Always looking to expand my own knowledge and understanding with a view to improving the business operation.
  • Following a successful campaign on East Brae I was requested by the client to transfer to Brae Alpha in April 2019 with a mandate to restore parity to the planned backlog hours and to ensure the department was running according to schedule again.
  • Accomplishments in the OIE position include:
  • Regularly meeting Key performance indicator targets as set by the operating business.
  • Meeting plan attainment goals throughout the year and accomplishing quarterly targets for work completion.
  • Achieving work scopes within and under the budgeted man hours stipulated within the business plan.
  • Having the ability to bring forward scopes when opportunities arise and complete ahead of plan thus resulting in the saving of man hours if such scopes and time periods required a temporary up man.
  • Overseeing and working with a team that has incurred no lost time incidents through strict adherence to industry safety procedures and standards.
  • Within 8 months on Brae Alpha and after actions implemented by myself the backlog hours reduced from 3600 to 420, therefore the transfer was seen as highly successful from the clients perspective with excellent feedback received.
