During my 7 years at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital I have had the opportunity to cross skill in the hospital gaining experience and knowledge in different departments.

I began on Reception where I worked for 2 years, this role involved the following:

  • Checking patients in for their appointments
  • Supporting patients during their hospital visit
  • Answering the phones
  • Processing data
  • Making appointments
  • Taking payments
  • Being in charge of opening and then closing at the end of the day.

I then moved on to the NHS outpatient bookings department, this role involved:

  • Using the 'choose & book' system to process patients appointments
  • Rearrange clinics for the consultants
  • Answer the phones & deal with enquiries
  • Handling medical records
  • Scanning clinical letters securely into patient records.

For the last 5 years I have worked as a private patient sales advisor this role revolved around bringing business into the hospital, this role involved the following:

  • Dealing with large amounts of self-pay and private medically insured online and telephone enquiries.
  • Converting the enquiries into appointments and then arranging the surgery.
  • This role required a close relationship with all the consultants, making sure their clinics were full and ran smoothy.
  • Being on hand to meet with their private patients after an appointment to arrange the surgery, answer any questions & building the self-pay package prices.
  • I also had to liaise with insurance companies for any patients with private medical insurance, providing procedure codes for the patients surgery and and calculating any fees that exceeded their policy.
  • Resolving customer complaints swiftly, maintaining company reputation.
  • Attended training sessions regularly to keep abreast with latest sales techniques.
