  • First fix electrical installations which is the first form of electrical installation as it consists of laying out the metal work and securing it to the walls and ceilings against the skeleton (concrete walls) of the building. This mainly consisted of reading drawing plans and laying the trunking and ladder racking according to the plans creating a path for the cables to run through or on top. I would drill the holes and then secure the studs and use the appropriate screws, nuts, bolts etc to secure the trunking and ladder racks in place. This work would often be done in teams of 2
  • Assisting in wiring up electrical boards and different electrical units of varying voltage capacities. This mainly consisted of placing the units on the walls after putting together on appropriate wall mount for them and then wiring them up according to their manual
  • Cable pulling consisted of running the cables on top of the ladder racking or through the trunking. This would be a tedious job which required a lot of physical endurance but also a lot of teamwork. The teams would consist of 2-8 people usually and required a lot of coordination as some of the cables were extremely heavy and long. Few dozen meters and few tons per roll. Different equipment was used as rollers to make the cable run smoother. Teams would be placed around different locations on the site and would have to communicate when to push and pull on the cable.
  • Sorting materials and taking in deliveries and allocating it in the site electrical storage room for easy access and time efficiency when taking materials

Construction Site - Eletrical Apprentice

Haydon M&E
Dagenham, Essex
10.2018 - 02.2019
  • Being an extra helping hand to the workers from my company on site by helping them complete tasks and help them achieve a greater amount of work done at times.
  • One of my main responsibilities was to learn as I worked. Being an apprentice is all about taking in as much information as I possibly could and making sense out of it. Whether that was at college or work. I made sure to learn as much as possible and always ask questions if I didn't understand something. Especially if something that I was tasked to do would seem dangerous especially I if I thought I wasn't ready to tackle the problem alone I would always point it out and report it to my supervisor. Making sure not to get on with the task therefore putting myself in danger.
  • Getting the right materials to the workers I worked with was also something I did. Making sure I prepared the working area with tools, materials and overall getting the work areas prepared with everything so therefore no time was wasted.
  • Carrying out installation of different types of “Metal works” such as putting up trunking and
  • Help in wiring up things such as Distribution Units was something I also did accompanied by a responsible and fully qualified electrical

Construction Labourer/Hoist Driver

Chalegrove Properties Landmark Pinnacle
Dagenham, Essesx
11.2017 - 10.2018
  • Doing safety checks on all the hoists every morning before use making sure they are safe to operate, and no damage is present to put in danger the lives of the operator/passengers.
  • Doing a weekly inspection of the hoists and checking the daily hoist report sheets making sure nothing requires the hoist companies to be called in for.
  • Checking wind speed with appropriate devices to make sure it is not too high for the safety operational threshold
  • Assisting the hoist engineers by showing/explaining certain problems whenever they would be called up.
  • Doing weekly Fire Point inspections making sure the fire points were not damaged and all the fire extinguishers were appropriate for the level they were located on based on the materials used on that level.
  • Checking the fire extinguishers themselves for leaks and if the pressure was as required and overall quality.
  • Trained as a fire marshal how to safely fight a fire using a fire extinguisher if needed and how to evacuate workers from the construction site to a designated Fire Assembly Area
  • Hoarding inspections was something I was also tasked to do as I was trusted enough to be able to visibly check the site perimeter to make sure it's safe and has not any attempts of break in and is working as intended in containing whatever is on site. On site.
  • Hole/Void inspections. It consisted of checking every hole/void on site which was big enough to fit a person through or a limb. I was tasked to make sure they had the appropriate protection in terms of them being covered by something safe and solid. Making sure they are assigned with the correct signage and highlighted with bright paint.
  • As a labourer I did all types of physical work. But above all, I was tasked with being the “supervisor” of a small team of labourers sometimes up to 6 people. Some of the reasons why I was tasked to be the supervisor of the group was because I was trusted to safely explain the safe way to do the job and assist them in completing the tasks up to standard. Also, I was fluent in Romanian and English, so I acted also a translator for the workers.

  • Standard of Work – Working up to a universal Standard or a specific Standard makes no difference to me I am always able to fulfil my tasks up to whichever Standard it has been set to Whether it is greater in difficulty than a normal standard I will always work up to whatever standard is set in the environment I am in
