Stefan Bulyha, Ukrainian clarinetist who is currently studying with Chris Richards at the Royal Academy of Music, previously completed his studies with Roman Vovk at the Glière Academy of Music in Kyiv. Since the childhood he takes part in many masterclasses, workshops and seminars such as Curtis Mentor Network 2021(USA), Academia Ibero-Americana Do Clarinete 2022-23(Portugal), British Isles Music Festival 2025. During his studies, he participated in more than 20 competitions, where he became a winner or laureate. Stefan took clarinet masterclasses from the following musicians: Antonio Saiote, Sergio Pires (Portugal), Martin Fröst (Sweden), Boris Allakhverdian, Yehuda Gilad (USA), Shirley Brill (Israel), Nicolas Baldeyrou, Patrick Messina, Philippe Cuper, Joë Christophe, Florent Héau (France), Jens Toben, Nicola Jürgensen, Norbert Kaiser (Germany), Gabor Varga (Hungary), Andrew Marriner (United Kingdom), Giovanni Punzi (Italy). In December 2020, Stefan successfully auditioned for the Royal Academy of Music and received a double scholarship for study with his current teacher Chris Richards who is principal clarinet of London Symphony Orchestra. Currently Stefan is a member of such orchestras as Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Tsinandali Festival Youth Orchestra and former member of Moldavian Youth Orchestra. Stefan supported by Talent Unlimited foundation, Hattori Foundation, Hnatyshyn Foundation and Drake Calleja trust. He performed on the stage with famous conductors such as: Sir Mark Elder, Edward Gardner, Gianandrea Noseda, Manfred Honeck, Charles Dutoit, Vasiliy Petrenko, Derrick Inouye, Trevor Pinnock, Oksana Lyniv. In 2022 successfully performed UK premier of Vitaliy Hubarenko “Aria” for clarinet and string orchestra in Royal Festival Hall with the London Contemporary Orchestra. The year after performed premier of the “Chimeras” for clarinet and piano by Alisa Zaika in Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke's as a part of LSO Discovery.
Performed as a freelance clarinetist in various orchestral programmes and concert productions.
Served as principal clarinettist in regular engagements throughout the 2025 concert season.
