I am experienced in helping individuals navigate personal challenges and emotional issues. I demonstrate empathy, active listening, and have a compassionate approach to foster a safe and supportive environment. I am committed to promoting mental well-being and empowering clients to achieve personal growth.
Adapting my approach to suit short term or longer term needs whilst managing my caseload effectively is a key skill and working within a multi agency field is important to me for a more comprehensive client led support system.
I work across the range of year groups from year 7 to 13 in a secondary school in a face-to-face capacity. Outside of this job I also counsel adults online. The school role involves liaising with various pastoral teams, Heads of Year, SLT, social services, police etc.
Risk assessments are undertaken when referrals come through in both roles and threshold criteria considered. I may have to refer on to other services eg GP, C/AMHS or SPoA mental health services in some cases. I have autonomy in my caseload and work load and manage this effectively but also have regular clinical supervision.
My work involves working with people struggling with general anxiety, to suicidal ideation or self harm. I have many clients with cultural differences causing issues, identity concerns perhaps due to autism or ADHD diagnoses, as well as bereavement, domestic or sexual abuse survivors or witnesses of. My work can be short term , sometimes solution focussed or longer term where needed
