My experience on Level 3 T Level in Education and Early Years course has confirmed
education to be an area I would love to develop my knowledge and skills. I have had
experience of working with preschool children and supported children with SEND and
feel I have been able to engage and support these children through taking time and
having patience to understand their individual needs. I believe children should have
support in the learning environment to reach their full potential with someone to
encourage them to be whatever they aspire to be. I find interacting with children and
getting to see how they interact with each other and engage in new challenges
interesting and rewarding, particularly gaining an insight into their view of the world
around them. Assisting with children’s goals and ambitions has been motivating for me.

I am a caring, patient communicator who seeks to understand each child's unique
needs. I have a specialist interest in working with children with Special Education Needs
and Disabilities (SEND). I chose childcare in Year 9 due to a strong interest in working
with children, especially those with SEND. My work experience included a placement at
my primary school. Through my current course I have gained hands-on experience with
children aged 3 months to 4 years, including those with learning difficulties. I worked
with an autistic child, helping her feel comfortable and engaged by adapting activities
and environment, I was able to build a bond with her. Because of that, she started to
enjoy being at the nursery much more. She could not speak, but she felt safe being
around me. She also had trouble eating, so I tried different ways to help her, like
replacing the colourful tablecloth with a simple, plain white one. This made it easier for
her to focus. I also sang songs while she ate, which helped her feel more confident
eating in a noisy and busy place. My studies have enhanced my ability to observe and
assess individual needs, aligning with the EYFS framework’s emphasis on inclusion and
child-centred practice. I’ve developed vital skills such as social interaction, empathy,
and teamwork. Additionally, I’ve gained knowledge in safeguarding, GDPR, legislation,
organisation, and time management, all essential for working effectively with SEND
children.

I have attended dancing classes, swimming lessons, gymnastics, cricket club, choir, ice
skating lessons. When I was 14, I was asked to support the lead gymnastics coach and

work alongside him as a volunteer coach for 5–8-year-olds. This experience developed
my confidence and developed my skills to work and engage with children. I learnt how
to keep them engaged and to use the equipment safely. This role also gave me key skills
such as problem solving and independent thinking because I was asked to lead some
small groups independently. I needed to speak in front of the parents viewing the class,
so this developed my confidence. I now work weekends at a garden centre restaurant. It
has enabled me to solve problems and resolve issues. remain calm at busy, demanding
times. I am part of the Christmas Pantomime on Ice. This is an inclusive pantomime
with skaters of all ages and abilities, including skaters with special needs who attend
the SPICE (Special People on Ice) skating Programme. I have developed my awareness
of the value of inclusivity. I believe that with my enthusiasm, strong interests and
positive attitude, I have a foundation on which I can build and develop my future career
in education.
