Work history

Animal Technician/Scientific Officer

CRUK, Scotland Institute
Glasgow
04.2023 - 03.2026
  • In my current role as an animal technician, I can integrate my knowledge of animals and laboratory practices in a setting that was initially new to me. This position involves daily husbandry tasks for many animals and requires familiarity with the grimace scale, which I apply in various research studies. Through Cancer Research UK (CRUK), I have been granted a Personal License (PIL) by the Home Office, allowing me to work with the species specified in the license.

Modern Apprentice/HCSW

NHS
03.2021 - 04.2023
  • My time in the NHS was incredibly fulfilling, challenging, and filled with daily learning experiences. As a modern apprentice, I studied a biotechnology course at GCC while completing an SVQ during work hours. This role taught me to pay close attention to detail and take pride in my work. I gained tremendous confidence in my roles within the NHS and can apply the skills I learned to any future position. Roles included:
  • Analysing patient identification and information
  • Prioritising urgent patients
  • Understanding the type of analysis required
  • Working as part of a team to ensure a smooth workflow
  • Processing high volumes of samples accurately

Hot Food Supervisor

Pret A Manger
03.2017 - 08.2020
  • My previous role at Pret A Manger was demanding but filled with valuable experience. My primary responsibility throughout the day was to produce the highest quality products while maximising sales and meeting deadlines, particularly for 'Hot food' items. While teamwork was essential at Pret, I managed my section as an 'HFS' (Hot Food Supervisor). This meant I controlled production and had to be mindful of both sales and waste. The company maintains exceptionally high standards, and I consistently and confidently met those expectations.
  • Additional experience is available upon request.
