Sophia Golan

• Assistant Director to Jay Miller throughout the development and running of LEAR, starring Sir Ian McKellen, co-written by Simon Stephens and Jay Miller.
• LEAR has been sold out within twenty minutes of the release of the tickets and would most probably transfer to a longer run in a larger venue in 2027.

Sophia has been invited to participate in the National Theatre's Directors Course in the coming autumn.

This is an invitation-based course that aims to support the practise of directors who are making notable work in regional venues, studios, and fringe venues around the country.

• Golan directed her original play 'Melting' at The Old Red Lion Theatre.

• She was Katie Mitchell's intern throughout the full rehearsal process of The House of Bernarda Alba at the Schauspielhaus Theatre in Hamburg.

• Golan's original play, "Melting," which she directed, was performed at the Bush Theatre as part of The Directors' Showcase of her Theatre Directing MA at Royal Holloway.
• Golan produced the Directors' Showcase event at the Bush Theatre. It featured 10 different pieces of new writing or devised theatre pieces performed over two days.
• "Melting" was a sustainable piece which fully aligned with The Theatre Green Book's values and managed to achieve zero waist.

• Golan observed part of Katie Mitchell's directing process of Bluets at the Royal Court.

• She released her debut album of original songs, "Smiled Obediently" (in Hebrew).

• Sophia was a second assistant director of Oliver Frljić, in Schlachten, a play based on Henier Muller's texts, at the Gorki Theatre in Berlin.
• Oliver Frljić was the co-artistic director of the Maxim Gorki Theatre at the time.

• Golan was the assistant director of Yael Goldberg, in Maya Koren's new play, "Personal Meeting" at Tzavta Theatre.

• Golan adapted and directed Harold Pinter's "The Birthday Party" at Tzavta theatre.
• Tzavta is Israel's most renowned fringe centre.
• The play was a wild circus version of Pinter's masterpiece.

• Played the leading role of Tamara in Roy Chen's play "Someone Like Me" in Gesher Theatre.
• Tamara was the first representation of a transgender character on the Israeli stage.
• The play ran for four years and was an enormous box office success and high accolades in the media.

• Golan wrote, directed, and produced the play "Market" (Shuk).
• The play was performed independently in Thelma Yelin's auditorium.
• The play compassionately portrays the ambitions, despair, and missed fantasies of street paddlers.

• Played the leading role in Amit Karta's short movie - "Fettuccine Al Dente".

• Preformed at "Halutza" in Tel Aviv with a solo show that contained original songs and poems.

• Played Julia, a supporting role, in the series "The Special Big Thing", directed by Shmuel Haimovich. The Series was broadcast on "Kan 11", the Israeli public television channel.

• She played at Haifa Theatre, the leading role in the musical "Euphoria - The Happiest City In The World" by Nevo Ziv, directed by Daphna Zilberg.
