Currently I am working as a teaching assistant in key stage 2 in Bookerhill primary school. In this role I am doing many jobs including preparing the classroom for the day for the teachers and children. I help the teacher with her planning for some of the children who have special educational needs. One of my roles is to help the children with extra needs and make sure they understand their work well and help them with any issues they have. At present I am working with a visually impaired child who also suffers from ADHD and mitochondrial disease, for which it is a very challenging role, for which I make a lot of improvised pieces of work for him, to be able to access his full potential.
In this role I have also worked a lot in the school office, from where I have a dedicated day to do all my planning, and use this time on the computer and also make phone calls to parents and any organisations the child is involved with, I have worked in this role for three years now, my role especially has included a one to one basis with children who have extra needs. This is a very demanding but very rewarding role. In this role I have gained a lot of experience in coping well under pressure, interacting with parents, general office duties. Dealing with outside agencies for children’s needs.
In my previous job my role was as a receptionist. My main responsibilities were to welcome patients who were adults and children. To make appointments, attend phone calls, photocopying, calling patients, administration, filing etc. using Microsoft Word, Edexcel. A lot of the job involved being kind and empathetic towards the patients, and helping the orthodontists to run their clinics smoothly.
Overall I am an individual of great qualities. I am a happy go lucky individual who likes to be known for my high quality of work, and understanding of the environment around me. I like to have a high standard of professionalism in the workplace. I am a polite, kind and empathetic person, who likes to help people with their specific needs.
