I am now currently a Registered Nursing Associate after achieving my Foundation degree in Science. My role continues to involve those of a healthcare assistant but now also involves tasks such as assessments, admissions, medications and documentation.
I started at UHL as a healthcare assistant providing direct patient care such as personal care to patients, taking vital signs such as observations, temperature and weight and assistance with mobilising to reposition and to mobilise around the ward. I then began my Trainee Nursing Associate training which involved me completing university modules alongside placements as an apprentice.
I have achieved my NVQ LEVEL 5 and all relevant training for my job role including the care certificate. My job role consists of completing rotas for all care staff, assistance with payroll, interviews, appraisals, meetings, spot checks, training, on call and care calls where required.
I have had full training in all areas I have also been PEG trained and almost completed my NVQ level 3. My job consists of being a Community care assistant which entailed looking after individuals in the comfort of their own homes. My role includes me assisting with things like personal care, moving and handling, ensuring that medication was prompted, encouragement to move out of bed, empowerment of individuals, ensuring they have the choice on what they wanted and other general duties such as preparing food and tidying up. This is a role that I have done for around 4 years working with 1st call care until they were took over by Hales Group LTD and then staying on to work with Hales.
