I was promoted to Shift Team Leader on A Shift where I worked alongside the Shift Manager controlling day to day running of a busy high profile plant. I am also intrusted as site ambassador managing the Own it program on site.
I started off in the Gluer Department, where I trained to operate a Martin 718 Gluer. After 3 months I was offered the opportunity to move into the Corrugator side of the business. I first trained on the wet end and the reel bay then I progressed to the dry end where I became the Central Controller on C-Shift. I have been able to take advantage of many corrugator courses and I have gained management training. I have also been able to make use of my AutoCAD experience assisting the Engineering Department.
I joined this company because I was offered the opportunity to become a Data Engineer. This meant I gained experience within all aspects of the data industry including, working alongside building companies, colleges and hospitals. This involved installing cable networks to supply them with phone, data and fibre optic needs.
I decided that I wanted to progress into the production side of Engineering. I joined as a machine operator and quickly moved up to setting and programming multi million pound CNC machines, supplying many large car companies including BMW, Jaguar, Rover, Perkins. I also became a Shift Team Leader/Shift Manager during my time with this company. Part of my role was Product Support which included visiting all our customers’ sites to carry out any problem solving and troubleshooting any issues that arose.
I began my training as a Press Tool Engineer here. I passed my full five year apprentership and gained another three years’ experience. During that time I worked on prototype tooling, multi stage progression tools and I became an AutoCAD technician. I trained apprentices and ran the tool room which I enjoyed. I also gained knowledge in dealing with the customers we supplied visiting their factories to solve any problems they might have with any of our products.
