Summary

I have supported people with learning disabilities in my last job which I held for 12 years and learned lots of useful skills and training that would be transferable to doing this support role from day activities like helping clear and cook to the fun stuff of going to the beach or swimming.

I had training in advance first aid which I used in my home life with my family and friends.

In my role of support worker I had to write daily notes on the people I supported from what they ate and times they took medication and all the other activities they had done throughout the day.

I also had the responsibility of checking their money and the house money that they would pay in to which shopping and bills would be paid from to keep the house running and them not falling in to debt.

I was also there to provide emotional support for things that had upset them, had scared them, made them angry or happy. This could be by listening and offering different ways to deal with the issue or by helping them speak to the person who has caused them to feel the way they wear.
