Summary

I have been working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) since 2021 with expertise in clinical assessment and emergency response. I have proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams focused on managing patient deterioration and ensuring high-quality care. I have integrated a database into my Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) and am responsible for data management initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and improve governance. My experience crosses four pillars of ACP, with a main emphasis on the clinical pillar I am also proactively involved in providing education and with audit and research projects. In addition to local quality improvement and audit projects I most recently co-authored an observational study undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have led on implementing Martha's Rule within my team and help provide data for ongoing National Health Service England (NHSE) audit.

I established the role of femoral and radial arterial blood sampling into CCOT and was the first person within the local critical care to achieve the non-medical prescribing qualification and have written the scope of practice for new prescribers within CCOT. Within practice I have established a team role for requesting x-rays and CT scans and routinely have to interpret chest x-rays as part of clinical practice.

I am certified to provide ultrasound guided cannulation and have an interest in developing wider ultrasound skills as part of my advancing practice; I have completed a course in FUSIC Heart Lung Ultrasound but still need to complete competencies in this area. Another area of advanced practice includes supporting tracheostomy care within my local hospital; this includes changing tracheostomies routinely and during emergencies.

I provide senior management under supervision of our senior nurse. This includes elements of CCOT management including recruitment, supervising staff in addition to direct and in-direct leadership during medical emergencies.

As a part of my role, I am proactively in a number of organisational and governance forums. This involves participating in data sharing, expert opinion and policy development.
