Simon Lovell

For the last 9 years I have been responsible for a team of Registrars in Northallerton Richmond and Selby. I am responsible for all aspects of Registration and Marriages, as well as other ceremonies such as Citizenship ceremonies. Responsible for maintaining the highest possible standards of all aspects of the legal processes and responsibilities. I have managed a team of 8 Registrars, 5 Ceremonies staff and nearly 40 wedding registrars, as part of a team of 3 teams within North Yorkshire. I played a key role in managing the response of the service to the Pandemic in 2020. North Yorkshire conducts nearly 5,000 weddings each year and my own team around 2,000 weddings at venues and Registration Offices.

I served as a Police Officer in North Yorkshire between October 1986 and June 2016, reaching the rank of Chief Inspector. In my last 3 years I was the Area commander for the Craven area. I was an experienced Firearms Incident Commander (12 years experience), Crisis Intervention Manager (Hostage Negotiator team leader - for 10 years, I led the team for 3 years before my retirement) and held a number of other lead roles within the service.

I served in uniform for all my service as an operational officer in Selby, Northallerton, Harrogate and Skipton. I have managed the Force Control Rooms and led the teams through major incidents and significant events. I was a Force Training Sergeant and have served at Force Headquarters in a number of strategic roles working at a Strategic level .
