I have worked exclusively in criminal law for my entire career, the overwhelming majority of which has been legal aid work. I have also always worked in the high street, so am very aware of the continually evolving demands faced by such firms over the last 27 years.
I have spent almost my entire career at Matthew Brown Solicitors. This is a family firm, having been founded by my parents in 1984. Coming in as the bosses son I had to work hard to establish myself on my own merits, before successfully managing the transition to running the business.
The fact we are still thriving after over 40 years in the competitive high street market is a testament to my leadership skills and adaptability.
I have developed a number of relevant skills over the course of my career
The day to day work of criminal advocacy has given me an ability to quickly assimilate data, as well as the more obvious public speaking and communication skills
Managing a successful high street practice for over 20 years has honed my man-management skills and given me a very real perspective of juggling the constant competing demands necessary for success
My work with the SSBA has given me an in depth knowledge of how to deal with modern media and the importance of clear communication
