Acorn park adult services is a residential facility for young adults who have autism and complex needs.
In my role I worked with seven individuals aged 20 to 30 years old with Autism, down syndrome, ADHD, OCD and challenging behaviour.
I was responsible independently and as a team for the resident's personal care, meal preparation, daily activities and the administration of their medication. We worked to deliver a high-quality of care to individuals with varying needs, tailoring support to meet personalised care plans to promote their independence.
It was important in my role to provide physical and emotional support, employing compassionate care to help individuals achieve their full potential and to monitor individuals' progress, continuously updating and adjusting care plans to meet health and wellbeing needs.
In this role I cared for a young lady at night with Lennox Gastaut-Syndrome, autism and ongoing brain deterioration. This young lady's condition was a severe type of epilepsy which resulted in her needing to be always monitored due to her many seizures and her high risk of breathing difficulties.
My night duties included settling her into bed, administering medication through her peg, frequent pad changes, reassuring her if she had seizure activity, continuous monitoring and recording heart rate and blood saturations.
During a seizure she was of high risk of choking so I was fully trained in using a suction machine.
In this role I worked as a domestic cleaner in private homes. I worked with strict attention to detail, providing thorough cleaning services within allotted timeframes.
In this role I worked independently and within a team on Knapton ward which was assigned to care for the elderly.
It was important to deliver personal care focused on individual needs, preserving patient dignity and self-esteem. I assisted with personal care, meals and monitoring and recording medical observations.
It was important to vigilantly monitor changes in physical and mental health, reporting deterioration to senior nurses for urgent attention.
In this role I supplied personalised investment advice to meet customer objectives and informed customers of changes to products, services and laws affecting accounts. As well as delivering exceptional customer service by proactively listening to concerns and answering questions.
While at University I worked in the University restaurant.
The role included preparing tables for guests and resetting tables between customers. Taking accurate guest orders and relaying information to kitchen about preferences, requests, or allergens.
Serving meals and drinks with professionalism and skill, maintaining high presentation and quality standards.
In this role I worked on a checkout handling money and assisting customers with any problems.
In this role I was responsible for the daily care and activities of two young children.
In my role within this company I greeted customers entering store and responded promptly to customer needs. Resolved customer complaints and answered queries about store products.
I also processed sales, exchange and refund transactions efficiently to reduce customer waiting times.

During my time employed with Red Oaks Care, Acorn Park, Bespoke Health and Social Care and Norfolk and the Norwich University Hospital I have gained a great deal of experience and Knowledge working with people with physical disabilities, mental disabilities, heath conditions and learning disabilities.
I am aware both of how challenging and rewarding it can be as a career working in this field. Being given the opportunity to turn my aptitude for caring for others into a career has already allowed me to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I am dependable, hard working and always willing to learn something new.
I am currently completing NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care . This is a lead adult care worker qualification and I am specialising in the administration of medication.
During this course I have learnt how to manage and motivate a team and to ensure the wellbeing of residents.
I have developed skills in the creation of care plans, risk assessments and working with professional individuals. Through this course I have also gained knowledge concerning legal policies and procedures, health promotion and the importance of person-centred care.
