  • It’s a surgical hospital so, the basic work is to provide post-op care to the patients.
  • I work as an SHO on an orthopaedic ward where I look after patients before and after surgery.
  • My role includes clerking patients who are planned for operations, carrying out pre-operative assessments and making sure the necessary investigations are arranged.
  • Post-operatively, I review patients on the ward, monitor their recovery, check blood results and imaging, and help manage any complications.
  • I frequently look after patients with complex conditions including spinal and sarcoma cases.
