  • Supervised the MLA team, providing training and assistance
  • Dealing with non conformance incidents, investigating and finding root causes, providing the relevant actions to each situation then passing onto the quality team for review. Also working with the quality team to create & edit SOPs.
  • Leading meetings to provide updates to the team, raising concerns and receiving feed back.
  • Process mapping, drastically changing the sample receipt process to maximize efficiency as work load increased
  • LVMs coding, troubleshooting and improving
  • Looking at KPIs and adjusting accordingly, for example looking at TATs and rearranging staff to improve TATs on a certain area of testing.
  • Liaising with account managers to deal with customer queries
  • Speaking to our referral labs to chase results
  • Instrument experience: Doing maintenance, running samples and troubleshooting on the Ortho clinical diagnostics VITROS XT7600, and the Beckman coulter DxH 500 & Access II.

  • Main duties consisted of maintaining, and operating a ThermoFisher ICAP OES - 7200. Running daily & weekly maintenance, calibrating and running QCs.
  • Creating our own standards in house using stock solutions, following SOPs and aseptic technique to avoid contamination of solutions. This included doing complex dilutions and solution mixing.
  • Looking at wavelengths of samples and dealing with non conforming samples
  • SOP development, updating procedures and troubleshooting to avoid downtime
  • Creating new solutions for new tests, working with quality team to get a new test validated for testing.
  • New projects - Involved in the project where a new site was being formed, this involved health and safety analysis, instrument locations and placement of necessary facilities. Providing instrument experience to allow for best operation of instruments and outline any issues.

  • Main duties were to ensure the smooth running of sample loading onto the thermo fisher amplitude solution system.
  • Amplitude system - I received training from the onsite specialists to maintain and run this system. I generated reports with system errors, number of samples received and tested as well as daily and weekly maintenance. I also aided in the troubleshooting system software, investigating malfunctions or operator errors. If I could not fix the issue I would seek out assistance with remote tech support.
  • Provided all health and safety training for new staff across the lab
  • Created SOP for discarding waste

  • Booking in high volume samples using their LIMS system (sunquest)

  • Teaching new MLAs how to use sunquest.
  • Shadowing and working under supervision of a BMS operating analyzers such as Roche cobas systems for chemistry and Sysmex analyser for FBC tests.
