Police Constable between April 2003 - March 2025 when I retired from the Police Service of Scotland. Over that period I have carried out numerous roles under the auspices of Constable. My most recent roles are detailed below: -

Firearms Enquiry Officer (FEO -2020-2025]

  • Assess suitability of applicants for the grant or renewal of Firearm and Shotgun certificates.
  • Face to face home visits, discussions surrounding legislative imperatives, security, handling and storage of weaponry including an in depth report on the suitability of applicants.
  • Worked independently, needing little supervision and was commended for my work ethic by my line manager.
  • Built good relations and contacts in this niche area and gained a lot of experience and respect whilst adhering to legal regulations.
  • Provided appropriate advice and guidance to applicants and other members of staff.

Local Authority Liaison Officer (LALO East Lothian 2018-2020)

  • Seconded to work with East Lothian Council as the Local Authorities Liaison Officer (LALO).
  • Collaborating with the Anti Social Behaviour Team (ASB) to drive down ASB.
  • Working in tandem with the ASB team, Housing Department & various other professional bodies to provide better and fair outcomes in the local areas. Providing and presenting statistical data on local crime trends, ASB and other relevant offences or issues.

From December 1990 - March 1991 served as a combat Medical Technician, class 1, band 1 of the British Army, deployed in Riadh during the Gulf War with 205 (Sc) Field Hospital [R] and also deployed as the Physical Training Instructor for my Unit.
