As an IRO, I chaired statutory review meetings monitoring and reviewing care plans and court assessments for up to 70 children in Local Authority Care. I led complex meetings during child care proceedings, considering permanency options promoting positive outcomes for children.
I collaborated with families, foster carers, residential homes, and semi-independent provisions across UK prioritising seeing children face to face and hearing their voice. I ensured quality assurance compliance to support children's growth and holistic development. My role included challenging systemic barriers and facilitating access to independent advocacy services for children needing support. I scrutinised Local Authority Care Plans to identify deficiencies and escalate issues as necessary. I played a key role as Lead IRO promoting exemplary social work practices working alongside Senior Leaders in Quality Assurance rolling out initiatives across the various teams. Example includes deputising for the ACDS at the Houses of Parliament, spearheading EDI initiatives to name but a few.

Managed a team of social workers in an Early Help Team focusing on preventing children becoming subject to child protection plans. I coordinated with various agencies to enhance family support and promoting sustainable changes. Using a systemic practice model to effect change using creative solutions to prevent escalation of issues.

Supervised young people aged 10-18yrs on community or custodial sentences to prevent reoffending. Engaged parents and carers and education providers in short-term, task-centred work with young people.
I presented cases to courts, focusing on rehabilitation rather than criminalisation presenting Pre-Sentence Reports for Court (PSRs) to inform judicial decisions.

I carried out monthly unannounced visits to children's homes across Surrey, advocating for female residents. I facilitated communication between staff and girls, resolving issues collaboratively building rapport with the girls, offering emotional support and guidance. I encouraged girls to voice concerns formally regarding their care and housing situations.
