Regular duties onboard the ship

• General ship maintenance as per ships planned maintenance system, this includes preparing surfaces for painting, chipping, greasing and grinding.
• Coxswain for both crew and passengers/commissioners using different tenders; one jet propelled rib, single propped steel work boat with also two other rescue tenders.
• Lifting and slinging of cargo for ship movements and also helicopter operations from ship to shore.
• Operating large cranes between both ships for lifting a variety of cargo on day to day operations. These operations can include dangerous goods and heavy navigational markers.
• Maintaining health and safety during helicopter operations, including stand by fire fighter, HLO(Helicopter lift officer), re-fueling and slinging cargo on and off shore.
• Navigational watch keeping duties in or out of ports

General responsibilities of groundwork’s

• Responsible for ordering materials to arrive on site on time.
• Maintaining health and safety around workplace with safety signs and barriers for pedestrian safety.
• Laying house foundations within planning specifications.
• Being in clear communication with machine drivers for banking.
• Replacing burst lengths of pipe in hydro electric dams, ensuring all safety equipment is worn and being exact with measurements to ensure no leaks under high pressure.

• Painted interior and exterior surfaces with matching or updated colours.
• Ensured large scale projects were completed within stipulated deadlines.
• Ensured longevity of fences by applying protective coatings effectively.
• Instructed local authorities to progress planning application submissions.
• Maintained machinery following a maintenance plan.
• Using chainsaws to clear fence lines of brash/trees to erect fences in overgrown locations.
